Monitoring Forest Phenology in a Changing World

چکیده
Plant phenology is strongly interlinked with ecosystem processes and biodiversity. Like many other aspects of functioning, it affected by habitat climate change, both global change drivers altering the timings frequency phenological events. As such, there has been an increased focus in recent years to monitor different biomes. A range approaches for monitoring have developed increase our understanding on its role ecosystems, ranging from use satellites drones collection traps, each their own merits limitations. Here, we outline trade-offs between methods (spatial resolution, temporal cost, data processing), discuss how can be optimised environments goals. We also emphasise emerging technologies that will follow challenges still need addressed. conclude a integrate studies incorporate multiple methods, allowing strengths one compensate weaknesses another, view developing robust upscaling observations point locations biome scales reconciling varied sources environments. Such developments are needed if accurately quantify impacts changing world plant phenology.

Language learning and language culture in a changing world
To communicate effectively, learners have to become proficient in both the language and the culture of the target language. Being aware of socio-cultural frameworks does not mean that as an outcome of instruction learners have to become "native-like," but an awareness of L2 cultural norms can allow learners to make their own informed choices of how to become competent and astute l...
متن کاملChanging minds in a changing world
I defend a general rule for updating beliefs that takes into account both the impact of new evidence and changes in the subject’s location. The rule combines standard conditioning with a “shifting” operation that moves the center of each doxastic possibility forward to the next point where information arrives. I show that well-known arguments for conditioning lead to this combination when cente...
متن کاملMonitoring spring canopy phenology of a deciduous broadleaf forest using MODIS
Climate change is predicted to alter the canopy phenology of temperate and boreal forests, which will affect carbon, water, and energy budgets. Therefore, there is a great need to evaluate remotely sensed products for their potential to accurately capture canopy dynamics. The objective of this study was to compare several products derived from the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (...
متن کاملReason in a Changing World
A rational agent (artificial or otherwise) residing in a complex changing environment must gather information perceptually, update that information as the world changes, and combine that information with causal information to reason about the changing world. Using the system of defeasible reasoning that is incorporated into the OSCAR architecture for rational agents (Pollock 1995 and 1995a), a ...
